Hosted by Médecins Du Monde, the German Red Cross, the Berlin Chamber of Physicians, Médecins Sans Frontières Germany and this year’s official partner Greenpeace.
For the past 21 years, the Humanitarian Congress Berlin has been debating, analysing, evaluating and developing the theory and practice of humanitarian action. Each year, it brings together around 800 individuals, including leading experts from medical and humanitarian organisations, governments, the media, as well as young professionals interested in humanitarian work.
This year’s agenda revolves around the theme: A Perfect Storm – Humanitarian Impacts of Climate Change. In October, the Humanitarian Congress Berlin will gather to discuss the links between climate change, health, migration and security. What do the consequences of the climate crisis look like? Are humanitarian actors sufficiently responsive to the current and future health consequences of climate change and environmental degradation? Do we need to rethink and adapt our standard practices? Do we need to cooperate better with actors from other fields to combat climate change and its consequences? How can we help provide protection to the most vulnerable populations? How sustainable is our work - how much are we contributing to the problem?Registration and current draft programme can be found here.
