10 years of Humanitarian Alternatives – Through the eyes of photographers

Ten years ago, the inaugural issue of Humanitarian Alternatives was published! The review was created in 2016 out of a collective desire among French-speaking NGOs and foundations to create a forum for discussion between humanitarian practitioners and the academic world. To mark this milestone, we asked two photographers who have been involved with the magazine to look back on the story behind one of their photos and to choose their favourite photo from among those taken by their colleagues.

All of the publications on this site are freely accessible because our work is made possible in large part by the generosity of a group of financial partners. However, any additional support from our readers is greatly appreciated! It should enable us to further innovate, deepen the review’s content, expand its outreach, and provide the entire humanitarian sector with a bilingual international publication that addresses major humanitarian issues from an independent and quality-conscious standpoint. You can support our work by subscribing to the printed review, purchasing single issues or making a donation. We hope to see you on our online store!
